Patent Agent (M.E./Physics Degree)

Law firm that pursues excellence by shaping innovate legal solutions to meet its clients’ needs is in search for a Patent Agent to join its busy Intellectual Property Practice. The Patent Agent will work closely with attorneys on all aspects of U.S. and Foreign prosecution and counseling matters.  The Patent Agent’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing patent filing strategies, conducting interviews with clients to obtain invention disclosures and preparing patent applications.
  • Analyzing Patent Office actions and prepare responses, conducting interviews with Patent Office examiners and other patent prosecution-related activity.
  • Assisting in formulating and preparing infringement and validity opinions, patent post-grant proceedings, patent litigation, and other intellectual property matters.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of patent prosecution experience as a registered Patent Agent, preparing and prosecuting patents in a law firm setting.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics.
  • Registration with the US Patent & Trademark Office is required.
  • Possess the technical and analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of patent-related matters.
  • Strong ability to write scientific and technical documents in a clear, concise manner, and effectively manage multiple matters simultaneously with various deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong interpersonal communication skills, and be a highly motivated, business-minded, team player.
