Law firm with a well-earned reputation for delivering world-class legal services is seeking a Patent Agent for its fast-paced Intellectual Property Counseling and Transactions Group in Washington, D.C. This Patent Agent position will provide the opportunity to work on a wide variety of patent matters with an emphasis on new and cutting edge technologies. The Patent Agent’s duties will include:

• Conducting interviews with clients to obtain invention disclosures, developing strategies for protecting inventions, drafting specifications and claims for patent applications and writing scientific and technical documents.
• Analyzing Patent Office actions and preparing responses thereto, conducting examiner interviews, and performing necessary legal and technical research and analysis in support of various patent-related matters.
• Managing a docket with multiple clients and deadlines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of patent prosecution experience as a registered Patent Agent in a law firm setting.
• Superior academic record with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Registration with the US Patent & Trademark Office required; admittance to practice before the Patent bar is preferred.
• Strong technical including computer and internet research skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize projects on competing deadlines.
• Demonstrated professionalism with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a team player able to work closely with attorneys, patent agents and staff.
