A foremost law firm and authority in Intellectual Property (IP), has an opening for an experienced Trademark Paralegal/Trademark Specialist in Washington, D.C. The Trademark Paralegal/Trademark Specialist will assist attorneys with all aspects of prosecution, enforcement, and portfolio management of US domestic and foreign trademarks. The Trademark Paralegal/Trademark Specialist’s essential functions will include:
- Preparing and filing U.S. and foreign trademarks with the USPTO.
- Coordinating, managing and preparing drafts of documents including memorandum and correspondence relating to trademark applications and registration filings.
- Performing searches regarding trademark availability, application status and related issues.
- Maintaining database of active client trademarks and monitoring infringement matters, including docketing and some litigation support (i.e. drafting cease and desist letters, preparing complaints, etc.).
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of U.S. and foreign trademark preparation and prosecution within a law firm setting.
- 4-year degree and Paralegal Certificate are preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of USPTO trademark rules and practices, TTAB proceedings, e-filing and docketing are a must.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and online resources such as LEXIS, Westlaw, Saegis, etc.
- Possess proven attention-to-detail skills, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects under limited supervision, work well under pressure, meet deadlines while being a strong team player.
