Distinguished regional law firm is looking for an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) Docketing Specialist/Clerk to join its well established IP team in Washington, D.C. The IP Docketing Specialist/Clerk will be responsible for analyzing incoming correspondence, USPTO filings, and deadlines related to all IP matters with a special emphasis on Trademark docketing. The IP Docketing Specialist/Clerk’s duties will include:
- Processing of incoming correspondence (i.e. mail, email and fax) in a timely manner.
- Updating and maintaining docketing database.
- Generating due dates; verifying and clearing daily action deadlines and reminders.
- Integrating new files and records in the client/matter database including monitoring conflicts checks and assigning new client and matter numbers.
- Assisting with the intake of transferred matters.
- Preparing system reports and customized queries, researching and resolving docketing inaccuracies and answering questions related to the docket.
- Reviewing all USPTO filings for completion and accuracy of format.
- Managing other related duties.
Requirements:
- 2 years IP docketing experience in a law firm setting with a special emphasis on Trademark docketing.
- Proficient understanding of patent, trademark prosecution and litigation.
- Strong proficiency with windows software applications and IP management systems.
- Must be a problem-solver who works well under pressure, is flexible to varying workloads with the ability to learn and retain new information.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong customer service personality and ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Highly motivated, team player capable of working effectively with all levels of staff.
